Supporting NAMI and Mental Health Together
Why We’re Walking: Supporting Mental Health with NAMI San Diego
At our core, we are a people-first business. Every day, we focus on building relationships, strengthening teams, and helping individuals find opportunities where they can thrive. But beyond the workplace, there’s something even more fundamental that connects us all — our mental health.
It’s something we don’t always see, don’t always talk about, and too often don’t prioritize.
Yet, it impacts every part of our lives.
That’s why we’re proud to partner with the National Alliance on Mental Illness for our upcoming Walk for Mental Health in July during our annual Summer Retreat taking place in San Diego.
Why This Matters
Mental health challenges affect roughly 1 in 5 U.S. adults annually, with over 61 million people experiencing mental illness in 2024, including 14.6 million with serious conditions. Globally, more than 1 billion people live with mental disorders (National Institute of Mental Health; World Health Organization).
Despite how common these experiences are, many people still feel isolated in what they’re going through. Access to support, education, and community can make all the difference, and that’s exactly where NAMI steps in.
Through free programs, advocacy, and outreach, NAMI provides critical resources to those navigating mental health challenges, while also working to break the stigma that too often surrounds them.
Their mission is simple, but powerful: no one should have to face mental health struggles alone.
Why We’re Getting Involved
As an organization, we believe that success isn’t just measured by business outcomes but rather measured by the impact we have on people.
Partnering with NAMI is an extension of that belief.
Mitch Berger, CEO, Howard-Sloan Search and IPL Health Staffing states: “Mental health touches every one of us - in our families, our workplaces, and our communities. Supporting organizations like NAMI isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s essential. We have a responsibility as leaders to foster environments where people are supported, seen, and empowered to thrive.”
We’re walking to raise awareness. We’re walking to support access to care. We’re walking to stand alongside those who may not always feel seen or heard. We’re walking to improve people’s lives.
And most importantly, we’re walking to be part of a broader movement that prioritizes compassion, connection, and community.
A Perspective from Healthcare & Life Sciences
Mental health isn’t just a personal issue but a critical component of our broader healthcare system.
Shaun Abrams, Chief Business Officer, IPL Health Staffing states: “In healthcare and life sciences, we see firsthand how essential mental health support is to overall wellbeing. The work NAMI is doing is not only meaningful, but also necessary. By supporting this mission, we’re helping to strengthen the systems and communities that care for people every day.”
How You Can Help
We’ve launched our fundraising page in support of NAMI San Diego and invite you to join us in making a difference:
Every contribution — no matter the size — helps fund programs that provide real, tangible support to individuals and families in need.
If donating isn’t possible, simply sharing this initiative helps expand its reach and impact.
Moving Forward, Together
Mental health is not a moment; it’s an ongoing conversation and one we are committed to being part of.
We’re proud to stand with NAMI San Diego and all those working to create a world where mental health is prioritized, supported, and understood.
Because when we invest in people — truly invest in them — we all move forward, together.
