Richard

Richard Zakin is the Managing Director of the Legal Temporary Staffing Division of Howard-Sloan Legal Search.

Richard has more than twenty-six years of experience in the legal and staffing industry. He has practiced law with law with four major national firms, including more than eight years as a real estate partner with Bryan Cave and Dorsey & Whitney. In the arena of legal staffing, Richard has worked with both law firms and in-house corporate legal departments in staffing both large teams of attorneys for electronic privilege reviews and individual attorneys for short and long term assignments with specialized expertise. One particular niche he has developed is the placement of senior attorneys for three to six month assignments with in-house legal departments.

In the electronic discovery arena, Richard has regularly teamed with expert electronic data gathering entities to create the most cost-effective and collaborative approach for individual law firm and corporate clients. He has staffed electronic reviews not only in New York, but also throughout the United States and internationally. Equally important, his experience as a former partner at two major national firms enables him to understand from a unique perspective a client’s need to balance the potentially competing interests of ensuring cost-effective staffing without sacrificing the quality of the overall work product in any way. His extensive experience in the industry also enables him to play an expert role in developing an appropriate timeline for the work to be completed.

As with his tenure as a partner at Bryan Cave and Dorsey, where ensuring that clients would be regular and ongoing users of each firm’s legal services, Richard brings a true personal touch to his work with clients and a true understanding of their individual needs and pressures, while never losing sight of the importance of building sustaining and mutually beneficial relationships.

Richard holds a joint J.D./M.S.J. from Columbia Law School and the Columbia School of Journalism and an A.B. from Dartmouth College.
